After serving 12.5 years on active duty in the U.S. Navy, including two deployments, Tysha Barksdale approached her transition to civilian life with the same resilience and discipline that defined her military career. As she prepared for her next chapter, she set out to build a business with a strong foundation, knowing that long-term success starts with careful planning.

Tysha connected with the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) at Penn State and began taking advantage of the training, coaching, and resources available to veteran entrepreneurs. Through programs including Boots to Business Reboot and Revenue Readiness, she refined her business plan, worked one-on-one with coaches, and developed practical strategies to guide her financial and operational planning.
Building on that foundation, Tysha continued expanding her knowledge through VBOC’s network of partner organizations. Through programs with the Small Business Development Center, the Women’s Business Enterprise Center, and Saint Joseph’s University, she strengthened her financial knowledge, expanded her professional network, and gained the confidence to grow her business.

Today, Tysha is putting those lessons into action through Keystone Infrastructure Group, LLC, a business specializing in residential trash and recycling container distribution for municipalities across Pennsylvania. With plans to build experienced crews, expand throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, and pursue government contracting opportunities, she is creating a business positioned for sustainable, long-term growth.
